Blogging Guidelines

You will be assigned a blogging week in which you will write a brief post (about 1.5 pages, double-spaced, 12-pt font) about a hipster trend or text that we haven't discussed in class. You should connect your discussion of this trend/text to that week's reading, as well as analyze the trend/text in relation to our ongoing discussion of hipsters. Provide links to any media or articles about the object/idea you're discussing.

You should post NO LATER THAN 9pm the Saturday before class. This will give everyone ample time to respond to your post and/or one another's comments. All comments must be submitted by 12pm the day of class. 

You need only comment on one post per week, but you can respond to more if you feel so inclined. You can skip one response week without penalty to your grade, but otherwise you should comment consistently, thoughtfully, and thoroughly to your peers' posts. Commenting should function as a virtual conversation, so take into consideration responses that have come before your own and avoid repeating your peers' ideas. Refer to others' ideas as you develop your own response, and feel free to introduce new material or links that are relevant to the conversation. 

Though you have until 9pm on Saturday to post and 12pm on Tuesday to comment, the sooner you submit your material, the better. Since bloggers lead discussion the same week that they post, it will be helpful for them to gauge the class' response to their material and the assigned readings.
